30 MILES OF CRAZY! 31: Why Denver?

It’s Friday and a new (very special… in the great sense, not the ‘after school’ kind) 30 MILES OF CRAZY! #31

This week I have to jump ahead (#31!) and put the ‘On The Road: Boston‘ on hold (there are three installments left) until next week and head back to Denver early for one special (very time important) occasion.

This week: ‘Why Denver?’ … or ‘HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!’ This is also my first multi-page 30 MILES story. It’s an EVENT!!!

Ten years ago, next week for New Year’s Eve, I came out to Denver for the very first time, saw Slim Cessna’s Auto Club for the second time (in a much bigger venue), had green chili for the first time, saw Colfax, met her (Colfax is a ‘her’, right? Agree on that?) denizens, went into the Rockies, managed to stave off altitude sickness, and had my first date with K (to the same Slim Cessna show.) Things and my life have never been the same since.

So… here we go. The last few Boston stories will resume next week, but for now… The very apt Musical Accompaniment (performing at the Lion’s Lair as well. Pretty sure we were at that show)… and more photos after the comic.

SHARE AND ENJOY!

30 MILES OF CRAZY! On the Road: BOSTON! 27: Only Weird if it works

It’s Friday! A new 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (#27) Part 3 (of 6) of ‘On the Road: Boston!‘ This week: ‘Only Weird if it Works … or GO SOX!

For the next couple weeks, we are on the road in Boston. This is yet another true-ish story (though this another that is utterly true) about a certain young lady’s experiences in The Hub, centering around Massachusetts Ave and (this week) in Back Bay (outside a certain bar named after a boozy author) during that frantic baseball post season in Oct 2007, after the Colorado Rockies had already clinched their series and were already (quietly… compared to Boston) heading to the World Series.

So, here we go! Musical Accompaniment! And more pictures and evidence below the art!

30 MILES OF CRAZY! On the Road: BOSTON! 26: Career Opportunities

It’s Friday! A new 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (#26) Part 2 (of 5) of ‘On the Road: Boston!‘ This week: ‘Career Opportunities!’ … or ‘CENTRAL SQUARE IS FOR LOVERS!’

For the next couple weeks, we are on the road in Boston (though this one takes place in Cambridge, MA). This is yet another true-ish story (though this one is utterly true) about a certain young lady’s experiences in The Hub, centering around Massachusetts Ave and (this week) Central Square. God, I miss The Middle East, T.T.’s, The Field, The Can Tab, and Hi-Fi Pizza (god awful pizza, but perfect for at 2 am, when all poor choices are made.)

So, here we go! Musical Accompaniment! And more pictures and evidence below the art!

30 MILES OF CRAZY! On the Road: BOSTON! 25: The High Cost of Living!

NEW 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (Number 25!): The High Cost of Living!

Yes, 30 MILES OF CRAZY! is centered around Colfax Avenue and my life in Denver. But every so often, I leave Denver for other cities, some of them not even close to the mountains (hell, most of them aren’t… and there is a lot more water as well). 30 MILES OF CRAZY! On the Road! will be a recurring feature and are some of the experiences in these other place, booze included.

First stop, back to the East Coast and my home for many years, Boston!

First stop, back to the East Coast and my home for many years, Boston! (Hell, it’s still my home, just not physically. Yeah, I’m originally from Philly, but there is a reason I left that place. I think I’m still not allowed within 30 feet of that god awful Rocky statue. He knows what he did!)

So, 30 MILES OF CRAZY! will be in Boston for the next couple weeks, centered around my experiences around Mass Ave (it’s only 16 miles, but infinitely more historic), though this first strip actually happened on Boylston Street… so, it’s not officially correct, but ART ISN’T PRETTY!

NOW… The musical accompaniment… a can of Narragansett beer, a decent slice of pizza, and we’re back in The Hub!
